In this weeks video I do a bit of a stick welding project on the diy cnc mill.
I needed to strengthin up the x axis frame to stop a bit of the vibration and torsional forces on the machine under cutting loads.
The idea was to use angle iron to add to the sides of the frame to act as a gusset for the frame where the frame connects to the linear rails.
I used my stick welder with TC16 7016 low hydrogen welding rods to weld the gussets in place.
I used my cold cut chop saw and my plasma cutter to cut the angle irons.
This has added a lot of rigidity to the frame and added a good amount more weight.
