Simple turning parts with Acorn 6 DIY CNC faster than manual turning?

Some people are thinking CNC is complex and slow for single simple parts…

One reason I build a DIY CNC lathe with Acorn was because it is easy and fast to set up even for very simple turning operations and makes this with high precision. You even do not need to write g code or use a CAM system.

But you can do if the parts are going to become complex with 4 axis, or if You hunt for seconds production time with serial parts.

Here now is my complete workflow. Without camera showing over my shoulder it is faster 🙂 This is only a low end small lathe with 5″ chuck, but with no lash in the axis drives and precise CNC controlled feed rates it cuts off and drills much better than before the CNC conversion.

If you are missing setting up the tools, with a bunch of tool holders ready set up with common tools, I can use them as they are sitting on the rack.
