Raspberry Pi DIY CNC project : assembly, power, motors, code!

Yet more video and photos of the prototype Raspberry Pi – CNC – now with housing for the electronics, tidied up wiring, 2 x L298 stepper drivers, some test code, and a review of he components used so far.

I collect some old 5v phone chargers and try and read the miniscule writing on them. 5v and something something Amps? – WTF!

Well 5v – 12v is fine, what about the Amps? check the spec of the motor, for max current, and then make sure your power supply is less than that.

Note: This is a ‘small’ CNC device – when I move on to CNC verison 2, I’ll purchase a 24v or 48v power supply and do it “properly”.

The purpose of this prototype is to learn (teach myself) some new things and get the hang of the electronics, hardware, software, so I know what the F I’m doing when it comes to the proper one!
