This is my Bipolar CNC Machine driven by 3 L293DNE Chips. I found a mitre saw on the side of the road and I thought it would make a good machine, I made a box out of an old PC power supply for the chips so it blows air onto them and I also have a temperature sensor stuck under one of them. EMC2 (LinuxCNC.org) is the brains of the machine and controls the L293D chips directly via the parallel port. This machine can do aluminum pretty well (a bit slow though). In an upcoming series I will show you how to make your own Biploar CNC based on the L293D chip! 🙂
