Update: This was done to show other possibilities to 3D printing not to say it’s the perfect solution, there are concerns for waste and cost of material. If you mod this in any form please let me know as I would like to see what you have done.
With the current state of events there is a huge shortage in medical supplies and users all over the world are coming together to help supply much needed items. As 3D printers have become a tool in many homes, users are 3D printing masks and face shield to supply their local hospital.
I love 3D printing but is not the tool for every type of situation, specially when time is of the essence. So i went ahead and downloaded the face shield design from 3DVerkstan and printed it on my CNC made 3D printer and it took 50 minutes to finish. Yes probably super fast printers could reduce this time much less.
Then I took the profile and made the necessary changes to it so I could use my CNC router to make it. Hold and behold, it took less than a minute to make this version using 3mm Polycarbotane. This is much stronger and those allow for flex.
In the link bellow you will find the file to make this one and a version for anyone to try it with a proper material on a laser.
