I had few recent projects that I couldn’t use my CNC machine due to large-size pieces that needed to be cut. I had to use my table saw and tried to trim all the pieces as precisely as I could. I found that table saw is useful but not made for precision and especially not for complicated shapes.
To make my life easier, I decided to expand the working area of my machine. I only have a budget of around $200. This limited me to making only one axis larger. After debating the pros and cons, I decided on the X-axis. The working range on my X-axis was about 280cm using 50cm length aluminum extrusion bars. I bought a few 1m length bars which add 50cm more to the working range. In the end, the working area changed from 280cmx380cm to 780cmx380mm.
