Avid CNC Benchtop Pro – Aluminum chatter analysis
Confession time: I upgraded from the Taig to an Avid CNC Benchtop Pro 2×3 desktop CNC, and added a CNCDepot S30C spindle + Fogbuster to round it out. The BenchtopPro is somewhere between a desktop CNC and a small VMC. It weighs a few hundred pounds, has linear rails and ballscrews on all axis. The CNCDepot spindle is 24k RPM, 2.2kW (~3hp) and has pneumatic toolchanging. In this video I’m testing out some recipes to see where the mill is happy, introduce a range of end mills I plan on testing in the future, and do some spectrogram chatter analysis.

Note: This is _not_ a sponsored video, I purchased the machine, all accessories and end mills myself. So all opinions are my own!
Second Note: the original upload had some wonky audio. I’ve unlisted that version and uploaded a new encoding, which has much better stereo sound. Sorry about that!
