First ever cut on the newly retrofitted proLIGHT 2000 desktop CNC!
Cutting case-hardened steel T-nuts at 3000 RPM 27ipm with a 0.217″ dia 4 flute TiAlN coated endmill, 0.017″ WOC 0.29″ DOC
I know these speeds are a bit abusive, but after almost a month of working on restarting it is wanted to see what it could do in terms of chatter.
This machine comes with an automatic tool changer rack, which I decided to ditch because it is not possible to source any proprietary holders for it.
Otherwise the Tormach TTS quick change tooling fits this machine as if it was made for it. Coincidence?
Except for all of the electronics and encoders, the hardware is original.
Retrofitted with:
UC400ETH Motion Control
C11G Breakout Board
Gecko G320X Drives
CUI AT102 Encoders
And whole lots of wires!
This setup currently runs under Mach4.
But I am not very pleased with some if it’s quirkiness, so very likely will try UCCNC too.
